Connect HardCopy Labs to your assistant

HardCopy Labs is a connector: one URL you add to your assistant once. Connecting is free, and there is no account or API key. You only pay when you order a print.

In Claude

  1. Open Connectors

    On claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app, go to Customize › Connectors.

  2. Add a custom connector

    Click +, then Add custom connector. Paste the URL above and click Add.

  3. Turn it on in a chat and ask for something

    In a chat, click + › Connectors and turn on HardCopy. Then try: “Design a small cable clip and have HardCopy Labs print it.”

Which plans? All of them. The Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an organization owner adds it first under Organization settings › Connectors.

In ChatGPT

  1. Open Plugins

    In ChatGPT, open Settings › Plugins.

  2. Add the MCP server

    Click Add, then Add MCP server. Fill in:

    Name: hardcopy-labs
    Type: HTTP (or Streamable HTTP)
    URL: https://mcp.hardcopylabs.com/mcp

    Save it. There's no sign-in step. It then shows up under the MCPs tab.

  3. Ask for something

    In a new chat, try: “Design a small cable clip and have HardCopy Labs print it.” ChatGPT may ask you to approve each HardCopy Labs action before it runs.

No “Add MCP server” option? Turn on Developer mode under Settings › Security and login first. Whether you can turn it on depends on your ChatGPT account, and on work or school accounts, on your workspace's policy. If the menus look different, OpenAI's current instructions work with the same URL.

In other MCP apps

Apps that connect to remote MCP servers

HardCopy Labs is a remote MCP server using Streamable HTTP, with no sign-in or API key. If your app can add a remote MCP server by URL over Streamable HTTP, paste the connector URL above wherever it lists MCP servers or connectors. Apps that only run local MCP servers on your computer can't use it.

Five steps, one price, a person in the middle

There is no shopping cart on this site. The whole order happens in your chat, and payment goes through Stripe Checkout. Here is what you see along the way.

  1. Describe it, or bring it

    Tell your assistant what you need and let it design the part, or upload an STL you already have. Designs made in the chat are sent to us as OpenSCAD, and we render them on our end.

    I need a clip that holds two USB-C cables to the edge of my desk. The desk is 25 mm thick.

    Here's a clip with a 25 mm jaw and two 4 mm cable channels. Want it in PLA or PETG, and what color? I'll also need a shipping name, address, and an email for order updates.

  2. We check the model

    Every model runs through automatic printability checks: watertight geometry, wall thickness, minimum feature size, and whether it fits a machine. If it can't be printed, you find out before you pay.

  3. You see one price

    One total with shipping included, plus a Stripe Checkout link. Nothing goes to a printer until you pay. If you don't pay, the order expires after 48 hours.

  4. A person looks at it

    A human inspects every model in a 3D viewer before it reaches a printer. That's why we can be honest about what will and won't survive printing.

  5. It ships

What the farm can make

What we won't print. Nothing load-bearing or safety-critical, meaning nothing that holds a person, a vehicle, or a load where failure could hurt someone. No firearm components, and nothing you don't have the right to reproduce. A printed part is a prototype, a fixture, or an object. It isn't a certified component.
